Everyone should be able to learn about Rise Grow Own, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use. Our goal for this website is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
Change how the site looks and sounds
Press the Accessibility button at the top of any page. You can choose:
Larger or largest text.
High contrast: darker text and stronger edges.
Stop animations: the live sample pauses and motion turns off. If your device is set to reduce motion, we do this for you.
An easy-read font, Atkinson Hyperlegible, made for readers with low vision.
Underlined links.
Listen: a recorded voice reads each section aloud. Press Listen on a section, or Listen to this page in the panel. Nothing plays until you press it.
Your choices are saved in your own browser only, never in a cookie, and never sent to us.
How we check
Every change to the website runs automated accessibility checks on each page, on a desktop and a phone size screen.
We use every control with a keyboard only, and we check what a screen reader, like VoiceOver on a Mac or iPhone, announces for each part of the page.
We check color contrast for every text color, pages at 320 pixels wide, wider text spacing, and reduced motion.
Known limits
The live sample game at the top of the home page changes every second. To keep screen readers quiet, its news is not read out as it changes. Press Pause to read it at your own pace.
The price chart in Try one trade is a picture. The numbers it shows, like the price, your stop and the result, are also written out next to it.
The recorded voice reads the main text of each section. It does not read the hands-on parts, like Try one trade or the forms.
The school and sponsor forms open your email app. If you do not use one, write to us at the address below instead.
RGO Class, the classroom game at class.risegrowown.org, is a separate app. This statement covers this website.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on this site is hard to use, please tell us. Email [email protected] with the page, what you tried to do, and the device and any assistive technology you use. A person reads every message, and we will reply with what we will change.
